Greater Lamakazi Welfare Association

A UK Registered Charity number: 1128294

Our Mission

The main objective of GLWA is to deliver ongoing assistance to individuals diagnosed with severe eye infections and diseases. This is accomplished by offering medical aid and financial support to the VARD Eye Hospital.

GLWA also broadens its efforts to support education and humanitarian aid by supplying free textbooks, stationery, scholarships, and covering tuition costs for students in need.

In addition, GLWA offers emergency assistance to impoverished communities through food packages during Ramadan, constructing tube wells for clean water, and rebuilding homes.

GLWA's ultimate aim is to establish a more equitable and fair world where individuals have access to essential resources like healthcare and education. With your contribution, GLWA can persist in making a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need.

Medical Aid

GLWA's primary objective is to provide continuous medical care to those who have been diagnosed with serious eye infections and diseases. Every year, we organise camps in the Greater Lamakazi area to minimise the travel time for patients. Instead of sending patients to the VARD Eye Hospital, we bring doctors in these camps to ensure that patients get access to medical aid as quickly as possible. We have been providing ongoing medical care, eye operations, providing prescriptions as well as eye tests to the patients. We have a team of medical experts who provide consultation and care to patients at these camps. All the medical care provided by our organization is free of cost to the patients.

Education

GLWA is dedicated to promoting education for all local children by partnering with schools to provide quality education. We offer scholarships and support for students facing financial barriers to ensure equal educational opportunities. We provide free textbooks and stationery to help all students succeed in their studies.Through these initiatives, GLWA aims to create a brighter future for children and break the cycle of poverty through education.

Access to safe water is essential for life, yet many lack it. Contaminated sources lead to health issues. Building tube wells can provide safe water to those in need. Tube wells drill deep into the ground for cleaner groundwater, ideal for drinking and household use. They can enhance health in communities with limited safe water access.
